“Pixelight” is described as a pixel of light which means the smallest unit of a whole picture. The lighting project was made as a concept for an artist’s residence, where the room for the artist is a container. The main idea is to recreate 3 phases of the artist’s life: inspiration, creation and exposition. Abstract “Pixel” cutouts on the facade of the containers make interaction between inside and outside of the space. “Pixelight” creates contrast within the industrial feeling of the container; the inside structure is covered with fabric, which will not just create a domestic atmosphere inside, but also will be a diffuser for light. In Inspiration phase light will come from the outside to the inside and will create a game of shadows. During the Creation phase light will block this connection and create a comfort zone for working. In Exposition phase light will come from the inside and reflect the silhouettes on the outside. Usage of different light sources inside and outside of the container gives us the possibility to reflect the three phases of the artist’s life: inspiration, creation and exposition.
