Today we had a nice tour through Mitte, the first and most central borough of Berlin. A wonderful, sunny day allowed us to discover this part of the city, and we found out a very pleasant residential zone, full of life and young people.

Mitte is the district of art/design galleries and shops selling refined garments. We could summarize the main features of Mitte using just a word: "research". Smart caffes with tables on the street alternate with hidden courtyards where you can find interesting design shops and showrooms, handmade fashion stores, craftsmen' workshops, unconventional cultural spaces and art locations.

We spotted some fascinating corners like the courtyard in Oranienburgerstrasse 32, with some funky fashion shops, investing both in fashion  and interior design.

Another charming location, very close to the previous one, is Oranienburgerstrasse 27, where we found a series of art/design galleries.

DAD GALLERY truly impressed us: it indeed shows a very good selection of dutch art and design and the owners were really kind to us!

If you visit Berlin and have a tour in Mitte, absolutely don't forget to take a look at GESTALTEN PLACE, a MUST for design lovers. Gestalten is one of the most important publishing houses of cutting-edge visual books. It also frequently sets up events and exhibitions, well known and beloved by Berliners.

The courtyard in which GESTALTEN SPACE lays (Sophienstrasse 21, Berlin) is always full of people having a tasteful brunch in the  caffee next to the showroom.

GESTALTEN SPACE is currently hosting EASY AS PIE, an exhibition by art collective KLUB7. This berliner art collective have developed a trademark style that is a mix of urban, pop and comic art. The six members of the collective come from an over 10-years-old sexperience in the street art, as well as the murals, customization and illustration on various surfaces.
