Pierre Le Riche is the South African designer based in Cape Town who created a Rainbow Room installation for Broederbond exhibition in October/November 2012 in Cape Town.

Tackling the sociological issues of the Afrikaner masculine power over homosexuality in post-apartheid South Africa, Le Riche uses the colours from the Gay Pride flag to cover a traditional Afrikaner living room with 17km of yarn.

Using the symbolic event of the 1995 Rugby World Cup final match, probably the last event where the Afrikaner male had to “prove his superiority”, the artists creates juxtaposition between masculinity and homosexuality, thus questioning the acceptance of LGBT relations in Afrikaner culture.
