For the 100th anniversary of the Tour de France, Czech company Lasvit has once again produced the hand-made glass trophy for the four winners of the most famous summer cycle race in the world.
Peter Olah, the designer of the prize for the third consecutive year, created the trophies using one piece of crystal glass following the traditional Czech glass-blowing technique and the knowledge of master cutters.
Inspired by the dynamics and atmosphere of the race, the elegant and crystalline form weighs almost 4kg and is over 60cm tall. Created using a layer of intersecting opal glass to bring out a geometrical decoration, “the brightness, shine and combination of cutting gives rise to a unique piece of art, concealing tradition and precision, a tribute to craftsmanship and respect for today’s design”.
