During the renovation of Terminal 1, ART + COM was commissioned to design an artistic installation at Singapore Changi Airport. The aim was to develop an identity-and contemplative moment for the departure hall, able to contrast the hectic atmosphere of travel.
So it was born KINETIC RAIN, an installation splitted in two parts, made by thousands of glossy drops.
Each drop hangs on a thin steel wire and has a small, computer-controlled motor that allows it to float and move up and down. The drops follow a 15-minute komputativ choreography. The two parts of the installation are complementary, and play the dance mirroring each other.
Thanks to a further excellent illumination, the result is truly impressive.
